fighting

yeh, i just watched FIGHTING.
starring Channing Tatum &
Terrence Howard
considering i watched this for free, i'm not remotely disappointed in the fact that it wasn't all that awesome.
the storyline is MAD predictable,
the fight scenes are decent, there isn't much character development.
but hey- if you wanna see people fighting, a very attractive woman and hear a musical score thats pretty great
(consisting mainly of songs that have been sampled by kanye west & jay z)
then think about seeing it.

my main issue with the movie was that - for a movie called FIGHTING..
the fight scenes weren't completely spectacular and there were only FOUR OF THEM.
but hey, we can't always get what we want.

this is the aforementioned attractive woman. her name is zulay in the movie.
apparently thats her name in real life too.
overall i give this movie 3.5 out of 5 stars.
but i'm slightly biased- that .5 is definitely because of this

channing tatum AND brian white-
half naked. lol delicious.

soloist

april 27, 2009;
same place, different time
so.. i haven't posted in a while... mainly because i went home this weekend and i had a little adventure. it was actually ridiculous but i will get to that in due time .

i went to the movies this weekend.
and NO i didn't see obsessed. because i didn't want to waste my money on a movie that is summed up in the commercial. so instead i saw-

THE SOLOIST
A Lost Dream, an Unlikely Friendship and the Redemptive Power of Music
starring jamie foxx, robert downey jr., and a mess of homeless people.

i'm not going to spoil anything for you. If you've seen the commercial then you already know Jamie Foxx is playing Nathaniel Anthony Ayers and he is a musical genius. He's discovered on the streets of LA by a journalist named Steve Lopez, played by Robert Downey Jr. and from there the story unfolds - this movie isn't exceptionally heartfelt and it won't make you cry... unless of course you're severely emotional. But it doesn't need to, the movie is eye opening and beautiful and it has a lesson in it. Wanna know what it is? The lesson is you should accept people for who they are, the greatest help you can give someone is being a true friend.

So if you want to see Robert Downey Jr. scrape his face on pavement, Jamie Foxx get completely immersed in a character to the point where you forget that you're looking at Jamie Foxx AND hear some classical music- this is the movie to go see. It won't completely change your life, but it will change your perspective on what the true definition of friendship is.

annnnnnnnnnd you'll learn about homeless people in LA. (apparently there are approximately 90,000 of them). did you know that? i didn't.

just unnecessary

april 23rd 2009;
same place, different time

first things first ( which just so happens to be a Blu&Exile song, download it)
i need to give thanks and praise to my best friend in the entire world - BRANDON.
he made my layout for me, and is generally just a bomb ass individual.

check his page; http://behind-the-arts.blogspot.com

and now to the actual blog;
topic of the day - UNNECESSARY PEOPLE .
or rather people who go out of their way to just do unnecessary things.
i've had my fair share of run-ins with these types of people.
but lately my life just seems inundated with them.

prime examples;

situation number one - a girl steals someone's boyfriend when said girl ALREADY has a man of her own. that's mildly unjustifiable. considering the aforementioned girl was not 1.MISTREATED (by her current man) or 2.SINGLE & lonely. she is just being greedy. and greed is unattractive. but she is not the only one at fault, it takes two to tango. it also takes two (or more.. if thats what you're into) to fuck.

situation number two - a person trips (or drops something, or does anything remotely clumsy) ACROSS THE ROOM FROM YOU. and you jump out of your seat to laugh, point, make a general ass of yourself. UNNECESSARY. and not even funny, because people being clumsy is comic gold all by itself. your added comments and general asshole-ness ruins the moment.

* and i know i am a jerk, but i draw the line at going out of my way to make people feel bad about themselves for my own personal enjoyment. but hey maybe thats just me.

and

situation number three - people who slam doors. FOR NO REASON, my roommates do this. every day. i live with 5 girls, 3 of whom seem to have a serious dislike of doors. slamming a door when you are angry- acceptable. slamming a door by accident when you are in a hurry- acceptable. slamming the door when you are in a perfectly good mood and its 7 am - UNNECESSARY. i always feel the need to ask.. "what did the door do?".

other unnecessary things -
O1. when girls who have no right to wear certain outfits wear them anyways. IN PUBLIC. you're 17 and have stretch marks? then put on a shirt that fits.
O2. when people brag about how "grown" or "intelligent" they are. but they always have to be the one to let you know - because its not actually evident.
O3. tramp stamps.
O4. scraper bikes...
O5. people who are ALWAYS throwing up a set... when no one even asks where they're from , it just makes me look at them and want to say- shut the fuck up, WE ARE IN COLLEGE.
O6. grown men (WITH CHILDREN) who hit on teenage girls in grocery stores.
O7. girls who are so desperate for dick that they stalk my friends.
O8. prepaid sidekicks that don't have aim. really... why?
O9. the fact that diddy is making another CD
and
1O. people who wear neon bright colors, and say that they are punk rock... but have no idea or interest in who The Ramones, The Clash, or The Sex Pistols are.

hopefully you agree that the listed things are unnecessary and at least mildly annoying.

earth day !

april 22nd 2009;
same place (the orphanage)
new topic.

CAPTAIN PLANET
and the planeteers, of course.
i don't have much to say, because the awesome that is captain planet does not need words. and if you disagree i'm afraid you may be lame as shit. i actually think about captain planet all the time. he's the reason i recycle. and also the reason i do not litter. case in point- he is awesome.

=)
so, happy earth day - aka happy captain planet day !

random side note for the day, i made martin get a blogspot. because i am bossy, and he's mildly interesting.

maiden voyage.

april 21th 2009;
as usual i am the victim of the epic boredom induced by csueb, or as i call it - the orphanage. where happiness comes to die.

all i've been hearing and seeing (via facebook/ aim aways) is how goddamn hot it is.
i personally am not that hot.
i'm sitting in my dorm w/ a warm laptop on my lap and i am not dying.
but considering how everyone else is complaining - maybe i am the exception.
shit, i'm rather comfortable.

but anyways, i'm not going to front.
i'm only making a blog because i wanted to jump on a bandwagon of some sort.
and i refuse to get a motherfucking twitter.

so i opted for this.
because some pretty cool people have blogs - and maybe their residual coolness will rub off on me

eh eh maybe?
=)

i guess i can tell you what to expect from this blog::
O1. general nonsense
O2. movie reviews ( come summer )
O3. book reviews (since i read books for fun, and you should too )
O4. random photography ( come summer, since i am not going to be taking any pictures of the generally hideous people i currently go to school with )
O5. feminist rants
O6. honest opinions on everyday occurrences/injustices
and
O7. youtube videos

probably some other shit, if i find interesting shit i'll let you ( whoever you are ) know.

peace.
