whenever i blog from my phone at like 2:07am, you know i`m going through an internal struggle .

i can't really sleep because i slept ALL day . no exaggeration necessary. it was bad. but anyways - thought for the evening.. morning?..the time lapse in between..

oddly enough, considering this is my blog- i'm surprised i haven't already covered this topic (ahem) SEX.

[its on my mind because i haven't been having any.]

i`ve always wondered why there is such a chasm between the normality of male sexual expression and the "oddity" of female sexual expression.

because from a young age its in engrained in our minds that men and women have their seperate roles and certain subjects topics and issues are to be discussed (or not discussed) depending on your gender.

now- i can't speak for anyone else, but i personally hate gender specific stereotypes & double standards .

like the classic; no one minds if a guy sleeps w/ multiple partners in a short period of time but if a girl does the same thing she's a hoe.

uhm why? and the sad part is its mostly females who feed the fuel on the hoe-fire. because of all the hate between women.

example 2- the taboo subject of oral sex. its perfectly acceptable for a boy to brag about how he loves eating pussy, but you will never hear a girl brag about he she loves sucking dick. why? because if she did, every single person she knows would call her a hoe. (now i personally hate hearing people brag about any type of sexual act they've performed- unless i ask you... i most likely do not want to know)

and that's an odd subject too.. because a lot of people pass subject when in reality they're being rather hypocritical. i'm not going to spell out why . (ahem)

and my eyes are starting to twitch so i`ma wrap this up (haha, clever.)-

i guess i`m wondering why are women expected to act demure and shy about sex- like we don't have needs and urges just like men do? and even tho both men and women are sexual creatures, why is it when a women expresses her sexual individuality she gets labeled as something negative?

a woman can't be sexually secure, strong, & openminded? but a man can be?

but this one is about a whole genre 

JAZZ 

some of you may be shocked. 

yes i listen to jazz, i have my entire life. 

i doubt i will ever stop. 

and when i was 5 i wanted to BE ella fitzgerald. 

no lie.. a small part of me still does. 

you may be wondering why.. well my explanation is simple. 

because its beautiful. 

and who doesn't enjoy beauty? 

i mean really. 

and i realize beauty is subjective, and the definition may vary from person to person - but to me

beauty is a rainy san francisco day in november, listening to duke ellington records at my grandparents house. beauty is watching my parents dance to ella fitzgerald at sunday brunches in sausalito. beauty is listening to recordings of my great uncle and my grandpa performing the music of john coltrane. beauty is feeling billie holidays soul in every lyric of every song, in every breath and every waver. 

beauty is being able to relive my childhood, just by turning on my ipod. 

now, jazz is embedded in my heart. and it will be for the rest of my life.

quiet contemplation..

so i`m blogging from my phone again,
even tho i`m back at csueb.. i`m just already situated in bed and too lazy to go get my laptop off my desk.

so an update on my life... no i didn't attend hiphop in the park, because 1. it was torrentially raining for parts of the day and 2. i had other unplanned business to attend to.
and yes, i'm distraught about these facts, but I'll see blu some other time.

i was in a bad mood and exhausted for the majority of my weekend, and you know what made me feel better? no, it wasn't going to target (even tho I love target). no, it wasn't watching brave new voices on onDemand (even tho i love brave new voices) ... it was- hearing lupe fiasco on 106.1, as i was driving to hayward. i love hearing lupe fiasco on the radio, it brightens my day- honestly. and because of the fact that it barely ever happens, whenever it does I appreciate it even more.

and if you don't know- i have a mild obsession with lupe fiasco.. ever since 2006, but I'll go indepth on that in my next post.

I'm definitely laying in bed blogging from my sidekick, since my house doesn't have an airport (for wireless internet) and my room doesn't have a phone jack (for my ethernet cable)
my macbook is out of commission.

soooooo... i have to resort to using my sidekick- but that's beside the point. even tho my hand is falling asleep. ugh

topic for the night? I've been tossing around a few ideas.

1. sex?
-reasoning.. who really NEEDS a reason to talk about sex? I mean seriously..
2. music?
-reasoning.. considering how much I LOVE music, my blog pretty much doesn't reflect that. (as of yet). I haven't even read shawnwashington's tutorial on how to get music on my page. but anyways ...I'll get to that
3.love?
-reasoning.. its an interesting topic.. even tho i have a rather cynical viewpoint. like for example whenever people say "blah blah blah.. and then I fell in love" it makes me think of love as a hole in the ground. and what do you do when you fall in a hole in the ground? you get up and dust yourself off and walk more cautiously. unless of course the initial fall made you break both your legs.. then you just lay there and cry.... so when I think falling in love I automatically think pain... eh. not so great.
4. stereotypes
reasoning.. I hate stereotypes and i love complaining about them.. but for once I actually don't feel like complaining.. I am actually shocked.. I'm always in the mood to complain...

and all that is interesting stuff. which I'll discuss in detail some other day- probably next time I'm on the macbook. but for now I'm going with a question for the boys -

WHY are you attracted to the type of girls that you're attracted to?

and before you answer take into consideration whether or not - mainstream media and the standard of beauty have anything to do with who you like.

I hate seeing people blame every single issue they have on the world or the people they surround themselves with. when in reality you choose how people treat you & how they see you.. if you let someone treat you like trash then guess what - yo ass will be in the garbage.

ALONE. because they won't be jumping in after they toss you away. but who's to blame for that?

as easy as it may be to blame your problems on others - if the same thing keeps happening to you over and over again and your the only constant factor in the situation then maybe its time to get your head out of your ass and realize that YOU'RE THE MAIN PROBLEM. (it took me awhile to accept that fact myself)

we all choose how we present ourselves, riiiiight? (right.)
so why can't we choose to present ourselves in a better light?

girls- your tired of being misused by men and tossed aside? then stop letting them misuse you, demand the respect you deserve and then maybe you'll receive it.

boys- are you tired of always having to deal with trifling' females who aren't about shit but just look hella good? then stop settling for a girl who only has half the package - and get with a woman who can hold an intelligent conversation and is also nice to look at. women like that do exist, look harder and actually listen when a woman speaks. maybe you'll find some.

so next time you have a problem that you want to complain about... think and see if there's something you can do ALL BY YOURSELF to put a solution in motion. because i`m tired of seeing beautiful, intelligent, creative, amazing (yes I'm talking about you) individuals unhappy because they don't realize they have the power to change their circumstance


if only they would look within themselves.
