soloist

april 27, 2009;
same place, different time
so.. i haven't posted in a while... mainly because i went home this weekend and i had a little adventure. it was actually ridiculous but i will get to that in due time .

i went to the movies this weekend.
and NO i didn't see obsessed. because i didn't want to waste my money on a movie that is summed up in the commercial. so instead i saw-

THE SOLOIST
A Lost Dream, an Unlikely Friendship and the Redemptive Power of Music
starring jamie foxx, robert downey jr., and a mess of homeless people.

i'm not going to spoil anything for you. If you've seen the commercial then you already know Jamie Foxx is playing Nathaniel Anthony Ayers and he is a musical genius. He's discovered on the streets of LA by a journalist named Steve Lopez, played by Robert Downey Jr. and from there the story unfolds - this movie isn't exceptionally heartfelt and it won't make you cry... unless of course you're severely emotional. But it doesn't need to, the movie is eye opening and beautiful and it has a lesson in it. Wanna know what it is? The lesson is you should accept people for who they are, the greatest help you can give someone is being a true friend.

So if you want to see Robert Downey Jr. scrape his face on pavement, Jamie Foxx get completely immersed in a character to the point where you forget that you're looking at Jamie Foxx AND hear some classical music- this is the movie to go see. It won't completely change your life, but it will change your perspective on what the true definition of friendship is.

annnnnnnnnnd you'll learn about homeless people in LA. (apparently there are approximately 90,000 of them). did you know that? i didn't.

peace
